The mission of the Southeastern Wisconsin Area Agency on Aging is to enable older adults to remain vital, active, participating members of society by advocating for the development and continuation of quality services; providing accurate information; offering educational programs and other opportunities; and, to provide assistance and guidance to families, caregivers, providers of services, elected officials, businesses and the community.
Incorporated as a private, non-profit in 1973, the same year that the Older Americans Act established Area Agencies on Aging across the nation, the Southeastern Wisconsin Area Agency on Aging serves as a link to services for older adults and their caregivers in Kenosha, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha counties. The Southeastern Wisconsin Area Agency on Aging has more than 30 years experience administering, coordinating and monitoring services for older adults including low-cost, comprehensive, quality care for the 158,000 persons 60 years of age and older living in our six-county region by helping them and their families navigate a complex system of services.
We expand our capacity to serve older adults in the community by coordinating activities and entering into partnerships with other organizations. Our partners include the Wisconsin Senior Olympics, whose mission is to provide Wisconsin's older adults the opportunity to maintain and improve their overall fitness and wellness, and the Wisconsin Long Term Care Workforce Alliance, whose efforts are dedicated to improving the recognition, retention and recruitment of the long term care workforce.
